Santa Lights Manassas, also known as the Tree Lighting, has been a fixture in the Manassas community for over 26 years! It takes place on Friday, December 6, 2019 beginning at 5:15pm. The magic of the evening begins with holiday musical performances and then Santa arrives at the Manassas Depot on the VRE train shortly after 6pm. After Santa lights the tree, he greets all the children and listens to their holiday wishes. Families can visit the Manassas Museum and store, as well as enjoy free wagon rides to get into the holiday spirit. The Harris Pavilion Ice Rink will be open for business as well as the downtown shops and restaurants.
3:00pm – Portions of Prince William, West, and Battle Streets begin to close (see map)
5:15pm – Entertainment begins on West Street and the Museum Lawn Stage
6:15pm – Santa arrives on the VRE train at the Manassas Depot
6:35pm – The tree lighting ceremony begins
6:45pm – Santa lights the tree and then goes to the TD Tent to greet the children

This is a memorable night that kicks off holiday season! To help avoid traffic or wasting time finding a place to park, plan on arriving about 45 minutes to an hour before Santa arrives on the VRE train. Remember, some of the roads are closed beginning at 3:00 p.m. and you may encounter commuter traffic. You may want to arrive in Historic Downtown to have dinner before the tree lighting ceremony or enjoy the live entertainment. You can find road closures on the above map.

Hang around once it’s over!
After the tree is lit, there is plenty for everyone to do. You can visit the Manassas Museum and visit their store, Echoes. You can visit with Santa and tell him your Christmas wishes. You can take photos in the TD Photo Booth. There are free wagon rides for all. You can shop at the local stores or dine at the local restaurants. You can even go ice skating at the Harris Pavillion ($).
Santa Lights Manassas goes on rain, snow or a clear night! Check the weather ahead of time so you know how warm to dress and how many layers you may need to stay comfortable. There are plenty of places to purchase hot chocolate, coffee, dinner and more.
